Matmethod: This is Mr. Ray Bradbury, one of the most influential science fiction authors of the 20th century. He has written such works as “Farenheit 451″ “The Martian Chronicles” and “Dandelion Wine”. I would recommend reading these, as they subtley reflect ob what he says here.

Who is this man, I stumbled across him while I was watching a video on advice for writing by Kurt Vonnegut. Someone please fill me in because I really enjoyed what he said.

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
…And Spring herself when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

A poem by Sara Teasdale
in the collection “The Martian Chronicles”

His book “Zen in the art of Writing” has more good advice on one page than the whole of “Writing down the bones” by Natalie Goldberg. She’s a fraud and a hack. Bradbury was a genius.

The first 50-some seconds of this are priceless and stand alone. I was so privileged to have met the man in 1996.

Bless him! Read “The Million Year Picnic” when I was about 12 and the ending scared me so much I didn’t read anything by Bradbury for about another 20 years!! After which I became a Bradbury devotee.

He wonders why he’s lived so-long .i think it’s because he loves what he does and because he IS loved and adored by so-many people .

Bradbury once was skinny. But years go by and things change. This year, 2009, Bradbury will be 89 years old!
Still gets out and speaks before crowds, signs books, and continues to produce stage plays around his writings.
I have an alternate YOUTUBE website with many Bradbury videos. Latest is from the closing of his play last month, of Fahrenheit 451.
End of this month, January, 2009, his new play opens, The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit. Check out:
