I think that’s pretty awesome that you’re teaching your daughter to sign! I’m in ASL 1 and I was actually looking up Signed songs when I came across it. Awesome!

its almost like training an dog, but the response is amazing. you just need to keep practicing and practicing and practicing. start off with easy signs and work your way up, each time you use a sign, connect it with the word or phrase that your using. I promise your daughter will catch on to it after a while and you will be really pleased =) good luck!!

That’s so cute! I am profoundly deaf, lives in London and uses BSL (British Sign Language). My younger sister is hearing but she learnt BSL when she was a baby because of me! My hearing goddaugther learnt BSL before she turned 1 cos her parents are deaf and now at 2 years old she is advanced for her age with spoken language. So yes it really works!!!! Well done, you’ve done a great job. Did you know ASL before your dautgher came along or was it because you wanted to teach your daughter?

Hi, thanks for sharing this. After seeing it I started signing with my daughter and she didn’t seem to understand. The other night I thought I’d try again and said and made the sign for ‘finished’ after her dinner. Last night I asked her if she was finished and she made the sign at me. I’m really excited to teach her more now to stop her from being frusttrated and sad that I don’t know what she wants. Thanks again. PS My daughter has the mullet too :)
